Lets get the ball rolling...

WELL HELLO!!

Despite it being a couple of weeks ago since being down on campus for the induction day, it certainly has flown by and I must admit I am a little behind schedule for 'kick off' in to the first module! But fear not I WILL get to grips with this fabulous world of blogging, wikis (?) and what not. I will confess that I am a total novice at anything technological! A fine example of my ignorance to this is that we actually have a scart lead situation in our house... I know that this will sound ridiculous, but I intend my blog to be truthful to the very end (*sigh of shame as i begin to type*)... here it goes... Yes I would rather sit with a white noise background than attempt to change the scart lead from TV to DVD/digital box... ''HD what?? so not just my initials then?'' Yes, feel free to shake your head and laugh, I do deserve it!! Anything, other than emails and a little Facebook now and then, has not had my attention....not even the television, ha.
So, here I am attempting the very first blog. Please feel free to comment, criticise, leave helpful hints and have a good old giggle, I know I will.

WELCOME TO MY BLOGSPOT! :-)

Being down on campus was a wonderful opportunity to meet a few of you fellow BAPPer's and all course lecturers involved. I felt such a sense of relief that we were at the beginning of a new direction in our indivdual career paths, all different but with a fine overlap linking us all into each similar field.
Being a professional dancer for the last 4 years, I have already left the 'classroom' far behind by indulging im my true comfort zone of dance studios and the stage, leaving me now to find a balance of keeping up with rehearsals and touring with the constant eye and mind on the social media and modules for this course. This definitely fills me with anxiety. I am looking forward to speaking with the many of you that still are in the 'working' world too, im sure we will be much support for one another.

This first blog was a daunting task....''what will I write about?'', ''will it portray me in my true light?'', what happens if it is not groundbreaking statement?'' etc, yet I/we must remember that we are at the beginning of this learning curve, and we will develop a deeper understanding, and when it clicks into place im sure it will not be a challenging task but more of a joy to communicate in this way!

I for one am very much looking forward to that, and getting to know more of you and your thoughts!

  1. Hayley,
Was great meeting you today, and well done for getting your post up! I was thinking if you're going to the session in two weeks we should stay behind and work on some stuff as sometimes it helps to work in a group, i enjoyed working with you today... and your page looks lovely.

  2. Hi Nina!! was really lovely to meet you too! My blog is a little bare at the minute but hopefully all will become more interesting in the next week or so! I agree, it will definitely help staying behind, a few of us (Phil, Mary kenneth and myself) found ourselves in the union having a further discussion about the topics covered in the session. It was very beneficial as the discussion time was in a way too short to really delve in to the matter and everyone pass on their thoughts and ideas! Fingers crossed I can make the next one, but I have a feeling I will be performing until the Monday in Scotland so may be a little tricky! I shall let you know though! speak soon!!

  3. Hi Hayley,

I don't know if you remember me from the Induction Day? Loved your first blog, it was so endearing and warm, I definitely laughed along in all the right places! I agree the technology is all a bit daunting at first but it's amazing how quickly you can get used to it! Hope to see you on the 18th, and happy blogging until then!

  4. Hello Hayley,

I like your Blog and your picture. I would like to give you the hint to use another background or to reduce the transparence of the description field, because it is hard to read the font. For the eyes the glitter and the white font merging. Just a hint for better reading.

    Bye,

    Katharina
